Student

St Andrew’s College Language Schools was established in 2002. Our main office is in Glasgow City Centre.

We offer summertime, residential English language lessons with a cultural programme, for young learners aged 11-18, across Scotland, England, Ireland and the US. Our locations are currently Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Ayr, Keele, Colchester, Gloucester, Canterbury, Brighton, Bognor Regis, Kent, London, Dublin, New York, Miami and Malibu.

Our centres in the UK are accredited by the British Council under the Accreditation UK scheme and we are also a member of English UK.

Our teachers and staff are committed to improving your English language skills with innovative and interesting English lessons, activities and excursions and we will make sure you enjoy studying English with us and ‘Live the Language’.

The Team

With over 20 years’ expertise in the provision of young learners, residential English language and cultural programmes, St Andrew’s College Language Schools is rapidly growing in the UK, Ireland and the US.

As an Accredited British Council provider of English language courses, we have the knowledge and experience of English language teaching to make learning English in the UK a very special experience for students.

Our Cultural and Activity programme is also British Council accredited and our development staff are constantly looking for new and interesting ways to make the student experience the very best it can be.

Simon McMillan
Managing Director
Simon is a fully qualified teacher within the Scottish Education System. He has been involved in English Language Summer Schools since 1997 and has been a driving force behind St Andrew’s College Language Schools since its inception in 2002. Without his hard work and dedication, the company would not be where it is today. Simon is an extremely well liked member of the team and is known for building an excellent rapport with visiting students. His forte is ensuring that everyone enjoys the “Scottish Experience” in every respect.
Fraser Hutchison
Director of Operations: Scotland and USA
Fraser completed his studies at the University of St. Andrews in 2018, graduating in History with a first-class Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew’s College Language Schools in the summer of 2016 as an Activity Leader at our Napier Merchiston centre. He was subsequently promoted to Welfare Coordinator at QMU, and then to Centre Manager at our Colchester campus. Having now joined the team full-time, Fraser heads up Operations in Scotland and is now looking forward to helping the company continue its growth and success.
Ally Connet
Director of Operations: England, Ministays and Ireland
Ally completed his studies at the University of Glasgow in 2018, graduating in German and Music with an Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in summer 2015 as an Activity Leader in QMU. He was then promoted to Centre Manager, serving two years in our Edinburgh campuses. Joining the team in 2017 on a part-time basis while he finished his studies, Ally went on to be a Centre Coordinator for our English campuses before joining the team full-time as Operations Coordinator for England. He looks forward to preparing for the coming summer and continuing the growth of St. Andrew’s College Language Schools.
Jamie Nolan
Director of Studies
Jamie is a qualified English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher having completed both TEFL and CELTA, as well as holding a Masters Degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, Spain. He began working for St Andrew’s College in the summer of 2015 as a teacher in our QMU campus. In 2018 he was promoted to Senior Teacher before becoming Academic Manager in the summer of 2019. Having now joined the team full-time, he is keen to further improve the quality of our Academic Program and ensure that students’ English ability improves during their time on campus.
Andrew McLeod
Assistant Director of Studies
Andrew completed his studies at the University of Stirling in 2013, gaining a Masters in TESOL. He began working for St. Andrew’s as a senior teacher at our Medway campus in 2018 and the following year took the position of Academic Manager at our Leeds campus. Having now joined the team full time, Andrew is looking forward to the prospect of developing and enhancing the academic experience for all students and teachers at St. Andrew’s College Language Schools.
Alison Gurini
Academic Recruitment Coordinator
Alison has taught EFL/ESOL in Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK. She has worked in UK summer schools as a Teacher, DOS and Centre Manager since 2004. Prior to joining St. Andrew’s College, she worked at the head office of another multi-centre UK junior summer school provider. She gained TEFLQ status in 2009. She was Chair of the Scottish Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (SATEFL) from 2021-2023.
Shannon Sweeney
Summer School Operations Manager: USA
Shannon completed her studies at Edinburgh Napier University in 2018, graduating in Sport and Exercise Science with an Honours Degree. She began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in Summer 2015 as an Activity Leader at our Ayr centre. She was then promoted to Activity and Excursion Manager at our Glasgow centre in 2016 and went on to be Centre Manager at Glasgow and most recently our Colchester centre in 2019. Having now joined the team full-time as Senior Operations Coordinator, she is really looking forward to helping continue the growth and success at St. Andrew's.
Kieren Laverty
Summer School Operations Manager: Scotland
Kieren completed his studies in June 2019, graduating with an Honours degree in Sport Development at University of West of Scotland. Kieren started as an Activity Leader at our CGC campus in 2017, he then went on to become Excursion Manager in 2018 and Centre Manager in 2019. He worked at St Andrew’s College Language Schools part-time as the Summer School Support Officer assisting with recruitment and social media. Kieren joined the full-time team in 2019 and has held positions as Student Experience Coordintor, Operations Coordinator, and Senior Operations Coordinator. Kieren is now the Operations Manager for Scotland.
Amelia Carpenter
Summer School Operations Manager: England
Amelia completed her studies at the University of Kent in 2020, graduating with a first-class Honours degree in English Language and Linguistics and Hispanic Studies. Having worked at St. Andrew's College Language School as Excursion Manager at our Canterbury campus in 2022, Amelia joined the team full time as a Summer School Operations Coordinator: England in 2023. She has now stepped up as Operations Manager of England and is excited to work with a strong team to create unforgettable experiences for students from across the globe.
Robyn Maxtone
Summer School Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Robyn completed her studies in July 2022, graduating from Open University with a BSc Honours degree in Sport, Fitness and Coaching. She has experience working within schools in Scotland, England, and South Africa. Additionally, she has spent several summers coaching in America. Robyn worked at St Andrew’s College Language Schools as Excursion Manager in 2022 and joined the full-time team in February 2023 in her new role as Summer School Operations Coordinator for Scotland.
Melissa Johnson
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Melissa graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Diploma of Higher Education in Medical Physiology and Therapeutics in 2021. She continued her studies with the Open University, graduating in 2022 with a BA/BSc (Honours) Open Degree focusing on Psychology and Sociology. She began as an Activity Leader in Summer 2019 at Leeds and was promoted to Welfare Coordinator at our Avery Hill centre in 2022. She worked most recently as a Centre Manager at our Canterbury Kent centre in Summer 2023. Melissa has now joined the full time team as a Summer School Operations Coordinator for England and is looking forward to continuing her growth with the company and providing students and staff with a fun and memorable experience.
Gabby Craig
Summer School Senior Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Gabby completed her studies at the University of Glasgow in June 2023, graduating with a Joint Honours degree in Politics and Social and Public Policy. She began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in Summer 2022 as a Welfare Coordinator at our Glasgow centre. She was then promoted Centre Manager at our Edinburgh QMU centre in 2023. Having now joined the team full-time as an Operations Coordinator, Gabby is really looking forward to learning and progressing in her new role and supporting the company as it continues to grow.
Sonia Robertson
Summer School Senior Operations Coordinator: England
Sonia completed her studies at the University of Stirling in 2021, graduating with a first-class Honours degree in International Politics and Languages. She has spent two summers with St. Andrew's College Language School - first as a Welfare Coordinator at our Colchester campus in 2019, then as Centre Manager at the CGC campus in 2022. Following this, she took on a part-time role as an Office Support Assistant and worked as a Campus Coordinator at Queen Margaret University in summer 2023. In her current position as a Summer School Operations Coordinator for England, Sonia is hoping to support and encourage language learning in a fun and interactive way.
Saskia Russell
Summer School Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Saskia completed her studies at the University of Stirling in 2021, graduating with a Joint Honours degree in History and Languages (Spanish). She began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in 2017 as an Activity Leader at our Edinburgh QMU campus. She was then promoted to Excursion Manager in 2023 and then Centre Manager in 2024. Saskia has experience teaching English in Spain and is currently working towards gaining a CELTA qualification. Having now joined the team full-time as an Operations Coordinator for Scotland, Saskia is looking forward to learning and progressing in this new role as well as encouraging language learning in a fun and interactive way.
Zeynep Sozen
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Zeynep completed her studies at the University of Greenwich in 2024, graduating with a degree in Computer Science. She began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in the summer of 2023 as a Centre Manager at our Brighton campus. With a strong background in leadership and organizational skills, Zeynep has quickly become a valued member of the team. Now fully focused on her role, she is excited to contribute to the continued success and growth of St. Andrew’s College Language Schools.
Coralie Hunt
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Cozzie completed her Foundation Year at the University of Cambridge in 2024, leaving with a Certificate of Higher Education in Arts, Humanities and Social Science. She began working with St Andrew’s College Language Schools in 2022, as an Activity Leader at our Brighton Campus. She was then promoted to Excursion Manager at our Canterbury Campus in 2023, and returned to Canterbury in Summer 2024, leading the team through a successful summer season as Centre Manager. Now part of the full-time team, Cozzie serves as a Summer School Operations Coordinator for England. In her new role, she looks forward to supporting the delivery of exceptional and memorable student experiences across our campuses.
Rosario Russo
Summer School Operations Manager: Ireland and Ministays
Rosario holds a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures. He has been working at summer schools since 2008, with over a decade of experience in leading and managing operations across the UK, Ireland, USA, and Italy. Rosario is excited to join St Andrew's College, where he will oversee schools across the USA and ensure an exceptional experience for all students.
Dimitra Aristi Tsialikki
Administration, Human Resources and Resource Manager
Dimitra has graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2021, earning an Honours Degree in Physics. She then moved to Glasgow and started working for St. Andrews College Language Schools in November 2021, as an Administrator. Having joined the team, she is eager to learn and progress in her position while helping the company flourish.
Sophie Stewart
Academic Administrator
Sophie has a degree in English from the University of St Andrews (2015) and a PGDE in secondary teaching from the University of Edinburgh (2018). She began working with St Andrew’s College Language Schools part time in 2023 while completing a HNC in Administration and IT at City of Glasgow College. That summer Sophie was the Admin Assistant at our Napier Merchiston campus and following this she was delighted to join the team full time. Sophie wishes to continue learning in her new role while supporting the company’s growth and development.
Caitlin Moan
Administration, Human Resources and Resource Manager
Caitlin completed her studies at Heriot-Watt University in 2025, graduating in Marketing with a first-class Honours Degree. She first joined St. Andrew’s College as an Apprentice in 2019 and rejoined the company in 2024 as an Administrative Assistant on a part-time basis, whilst completing her degree. Caitlin has now joined full time as an Administration, HR & Resource Manager for the Non-Acadmic team and is looking forward to supporting the company in preparing for successful summers to come.
Niall Robertson
Academic Coordinator: England
Niall is a fully qualified English teacher having completed CELTA and DipTESOL as well as holding a degree in Physics from the University of Glasgow. He began working for St Andrew’s College in summer 2018 as Senior Teacher and has since been Director of Studies at multiple campuses across Scotland and England. Having a keen interest in both teaching and youth work, he is keen to further improve the quality of instruction and foster good relationships with students, staff and leaders.
Kristen Stupart
Finance Executive
Kristen joined the team at St Andrews College Language Schools in September 2024 as Finance Executive. Having gained extensive Financial Management experience in roles within Financial Services, Freight Forwarding and Healthcare, she is excited to have this new opportunity and looks forward to learning and developing in her new role, supporting the Company as it continues to grow.
Cameron Gallacher
Summer School Operations Coordinator: USA
Cameron started working with St Andrews College Language Schools in the summer of 2017 as an Activity Leader at our Ayr centre. He was subsequently promoted to Activity and Excursion Manager in Avery Hill (2022,2023) and Canterbury Kent (2024), and then to Centre Manager at St Mary's University (2025) He began working full-time in administration and staff recruitment. He is now coordinating the launch of the new campuses in America and is comitted to suporting the company's growth while ensuring the best possible experience for students.
Eve Hamill
Summer School Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Eve graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2023 with a Joint Honours degree in Journalism, Creative Writing and Spanish, and then in 2024 with a Masters in Creative Writing. Eve has worked in a wide variety of fields, but in particular, with children and young people. She has been a language assistant in Spain, a mentor in widening participation programmes, and chairperson of a local anti-discrimination group. Eve has worked with St. Andrew's since 2018. She spent five summers as an activity leader at Ayr, Stirling, and Canterbury campuses. In 2025, she completed a summer as Centre Manager at the QMU campus before becoming Operations Coordinator. She is eager to learn some new skills, support the growth of STACLS, and to continue ensuring that students and staff are given an enjoyable summer to remember.
Pedro Ramirez Garcia
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Pedro is finishing a Spanish Law degree from Malaga University. He began working with St Andrews College Language Schools in the summer of 2019 as an Activity Leader at our Leeds Beckett centre. He was subsequently promoted to Welfare Coordinator at Colchester (2022) and Avery Hill (2023), and then to Centre Manager at Avery Hill (2024) and St Mary’s (2025) centres. Pedro is the first member of the team to transition to full-time work, having previously been a student at St Andrews College Language Schools and worked during the summer. He looks forward to supporting the delivery of exceptional and memorable student experiences across our campuses in England.

Accreditation & Memberships

British Council Accredited

St Andrew’s College Language Schools Ltd’s centres in the United Kingdom are accredited by The British Council. The British Council is an independent body dedicated to promoting British culture and education throughout the world.

The British Council inspected and accredited St Andrews College in July 2017, July 2018 and July 2022. The Accreditation Scheme assesses the standards of management, resources and premises, teaching, welfare, and safeguarding under-18’s and accredits organisations which meet the overall standard in each area inspected (see www.britishcouncil.org/education/accreditation for details).

This private language school offers residential vacation courses in general English for under-18’s.
Strengths were noted in the areas of Course design and Leisure opportunities.
The inspection report stated that the organisation met the standards of the Scheme.

St Andrew’s College commitment

As an accredited school, we are committed to ensuring our quality standards are met and that each and every student enjoys their stay and studies with us. To ensure that you enjoy a quality learning environment, we have a maximum class size of 18 students per class. This ensures that you receive personal attention from your teacher and maximise your learning opportunities.

 

Accreditation guarantees quality

Accreditation UK monitors and improves standards of management, teaching, resources, welfare and care of under 18s in UK English language teaching (ELT). Accredited centres must have:

  • appropriately qualified teachers
  • teaching which meets the Scheme requirements
  • effective safeguarding and supervision of under 18s
  • safe premises, with properly equipped classrooms and areas for relaxation
  • brochures and publicity materials which accurately reflect what is provided
  • proper emergency procedures, known to staff and students.

Accommodation is regularly inspected and must meet Scheme standards. See section 2.2 of the Accreditation UK Handbook 2016-17 for the full list of what is checked during the inspection process.

The same standards are applied in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
