Lessons

There are typically 10-12 lessons per week.*

Each lesson is 1 hour 30 minutes long with a break.*

Classes will have a maximum of 18 students per class and be based in modern multimedia ready classrooms.

Students complete the grammar and listening sections of the level test before they arrive (online). On their first day in class their level is confirmed with the speaking and writing sections of the test.

We also encourage, where possible, our lessons to take place in the real world, “outside of the classroom”. This helps the students to develop confidence using functional language and learn about the UK and the places they will visit.

* See individual campuses for specific timetables.

Curriculum

Students will receive:

1 x Student Book
1 x Student Diary

Students will learn General English through current topics of interest to young people.

Although students have a course book, emphasis will be on conversation based tasks, through group work and pair work.

Students can advance their vocabulary and use of English through our workbooks, activities, and class projects.

Students will be active participants in their own learning through discussions, self-assessment and personal learning plans.

Our Teachers

The English lessons are taught by English language teachers who love teaching and want to help our students learn.

Our teachers are chosen for their enthusiasm teaching young people.

The Teachers should be:

Our English language summer vacation courses are for young people aged between 11 and 18.

PCTO content is integrated into the curriculum and an additional PDF certificate is issued in recognition.

We can offer Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) from Trinity College London at any of our centres. The Trinity package includes organisation and administration of the exam as well as 2 additional preparation lessons.
While academic staff are able to advise on appropriate levels, it is advisable for candidates to have some knowledge of the exam before enrolment. St Andrew’s College Language Schools do not take responsibility for exam results.
