The Campus
The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh blends a large collection of medieval and classical architecture and is often considered one of Europe’s premier destinations to visit. The campus is only a short distance from the city centre and is therefore a great base from which to explore this beautiful city.
One of Scotland’s most prestigious schools, Merchiston Castle School is located in 96-acres of stunning grounds in the Colinton area of Edinburgh. Based at the foot of the Pentland hills, it hosts state-of-the-art facilities, with access to many different sports and has high-quality accommodation and catering facilities. A truly historical school, studying English here gives students an amazing opportunity to ‘Live the Language’ in Scotland’s capital city and experience an authentic British experience at a premium boarding school.

All journeys on the student excursion programme will be by private coach.
Accommodation
The Accommodation
The student accommodation is on campus; this can be an exciting experience and a great way to meet new people and make friends.
The students will stay in on-site accommodation blocks, which are composed of majority twin rooms but some single ensuites are available too. There are shared common areas and the accommodation is furnished to a high standard. There is access to student Wi-Fi.
There are also standard accommodation blocks onsite, with students sharing dormitories and bathroom facilities. This is based in the modern Chalmers building which opened in 2024.
The safety of our students is always very important. The school has CCTV, secure access entry systems and St Andrew’s College staff are contactable 24/7.
