The Campus
The University of Kent’s Canterbury campus is large and located near the centre of Canterbury, overlooking the cathedral.
Onsite facilities include a general shop and a laundrette, plenty of sports facilities, a cinema and a large park for football, rounders and many other outdoor sports. Keynes, and Eliot Colleges are the hubs of the summer school, including accommodation and teaching facilities.
The Location
Canterbury is an ancient city, famous for its cathedral and the rich history of pilgrimages that took place there, well documented by Geoffrey Chaucer in ‘The Canterbury Tales’.
The modern-day city is based around the cathedral and has many old, narrow streets with plenty of shops and places to eat and drink.
Around and about
The campus is located not far from Canterbury’s city centre. It takes around 25 minutes to walk there, and part of the walk is pedestrianised. Alternatively, there are regular public buses that can get you to the city centre in 10-minutes. There are shops on campus, and even more in the Canterbury itself.
Travel and Transport
All journeys on the student excursion programme will be by private coach.
The Accommodation
The student accommodation is on campus; this can be an exciting experience and a great way to meet new people and make friends.
There are three different accommodations. All rooms are single en-suite (towels not provided), with around 14 bedrooms per flat. All apartments are furnished to a high standard and there is access to student Wi-Fi. Groups will not have access to kitchens however, there are other common spaces available around the campus.
The safety of our students is very important. The University of Kent has a 24-hour security presence, CCTV, and secure access entry systems.
