John H Corcoran MBE
Chairman & Managing Director
John was Director of the English Language Summer Courses at St Andrew’s College, Bearsden, Glasgow, between 1988 and 2002. He was also Director of Commercial Services at the College over the same period. John has a vast knowledge of the Commercial field, as well as his role with the company he is also former Chief Executive Officer with Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce and was recently made honorary President. Consequently, he relates well to people and recognises the importance that care of visitors means to parents and guardians sending young people to Scotland. John ensures that he is on campus every day and makes himself freely available to talk to students and leaders on any issue.
Director of Operations
Simon is a fully qualified teacher within the Scottish Education System. He has been involved in English Language Summer Schools since 1997 and has been a driving force behind St Andrew’s College Language Schools since its inception in 2002. Without his hard work and dedication, the company would not be where it is today. Simon is an extremely well liked member of the team and is known for building an excellent rapport with visiting students. His forte is ensuring that everyone enjoys the “Scottish Experience” in every respect.
Elena Bueno Galán
Elena is a qualified English language teacher by the University of Jaén. She also holds a degree in Tourism & Information by the University of Málaga and she is a qualified DELE examiner. She started her career teaching English in Jaén in 2003. She worked with the Junta de Andalucía as a group leader for Spanish students abroad during the summer periods for 5 years. She moved to Scotland in 2006 and since then she has been teaching Spanish at UWS, Glasgow & Strathclyde Universities. In 2004 Elena started being part of St. Andrews College as a group leader and since then she has been a Spanish teacher, a Centre Manager, the Summer School Coordinator and has now taken on the role of General Manager.
Director of Studies
Susan has 16 years’ experience in the field of ELT. She is Cambridge DELTA qualified and holds a Master’s Degree. She began her career in Greece in 2001 and moved to Malaysia in 2004 where she worked in both Penang and Kuala Lumpur for the British Council. She returned to Scotland in 2012 and joined St Andrew’s College as Director of Studies. She is very happy to be a full time member of staff and is very much enjoying the development and production of our language courses and books. She lives in Barrhead with her two dogs.
Summer School Support Officer
Ally is in his final year of study at the University of Glasgow. He is studying German and Music. He began working for St. Andrew's College Language Schools in summer 2015 as an Activity Leader in QMU and was promoted the following two years as a Centre Manager in our Edinburgh campuses. He now works part-time at our Head Office and is excited to be a part of the team preparing for summer school.
Carole has 4 years’ experience in the field of administration and holds a Business studies degree. She began her career in London where she worked for an airline company in London as an administrator and operation assistant for over 3 years. She has a broad-based experience covering a full spectrum of administrative duties and customer service. Carole has now taken the role of administrative assistants. She is very happy to be working for st Andrews college and hope to bring her skills and experience to the success of the company.
Summer School Development Officer
Louise began working for St Andrew’s College in summer 2013 as an Activity Leader. Since then, she has taken on various positions in campuses across Scotland and England, most recently as Centre Coordinator in our London campus.
Louise graduated with a First Class Honors in Law, with French Law, in summer 2017. She then joined the team on a full-time basis. Louise hopes her knowledge gained from working on different campuses will allow her to contribute to the development of the summer school programmes to give students the best experience possible.
Summer School Welfare and Student Services Coordinator
Raquel began working with St. Andrew's College in 2016 as an Activity Leader, and most recently worked as the Centre Manager in one of our large Edinburgh campuses.
Raquel graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a degree in Spanish and Business Studies in 2017 and has now joined the team, full-time, as the Summer School Welfare and Student Client Services Coordinator.
She is excited to be part of the team and hopes that her experience with St. Andrew's College can contribute to the company’s growth and success.
