John H Corcoran MBE
April 1938 - May 2018
John was Director of the English Language Summer Courses at St Andrew’s College, Bearsden, Glasgow, between 1988 and 2002. He was also Director of Commercial Services at the College over the same period. He was former Chief Executive Officer with Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce and was later made honorary President. Consequently, he related well to people and recognised the importance that care of visitors means to parents and guardians sending young people to the UK.
Simon is a fully qualified teacher within the Scottish Education System. He has been involved in English Language Summer Schools since 1997 and has been a driving force behind St Andrew’s College Language Schools since its inception in 2002. Without his hard work and dedication, the company would not be where it is today. Simon is an extremely well liked member of the team and is known for building an excellent rapport with visiting students. His forte is ensuring that everyone enjoys the “Scottish Experience” in every respect.
Elena Bueno Galán
Elena has an Honours Degree in English Philology by the University of Jaén. She also has a degree in Tourism & Information by the University of Málaga and she is a qualified DELE examiner. She started her career teaching English in Jaén in 2003. She worked with the Junta de Andalucía as a group leader for Spanish students abroad during the summer periods for 5 years. She moved to Scotland in 2006 and since then she has been teaching Spanish at UWS, Glasgow & Strathclyde Universities. In 2004 Elena started being part of St. Andrews College as a group leader and since then she has been a Spanish teacher, a Centre Manager, the Summer School Coordinator and has now taken on the role of General Manager.
Daniella Di Mambro
Director of Studies
Daniella has worked in English Language teaching and training for over 10 years. Having graduated with a 1st class honours degree in English from the University of Strathclyde, Daniella gained her CELTA qualification and started work in Italy as an English teacher. Returning to Glasgow, Daniella completed her DipTESOL in 2012 and continued teaching as well as her role of Organisation Development Manager, overseeing the training and development of a Glasgow-based Language School. She has also worked as an IELTS examiner and now delivers British Council teacher training across the UK and Europe. Daniella joined St Andrew's in early 2018 and happily took on the role of Director of Studies in September.
Director of Studies
Lauren has been working in ELT since 2012. She has a degree in Comparative Literature in Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow. She is Cambridge Delta qualified, and is now a Local Delta Tutor. She is originally from Edinburgh, but went to university in Glasgow, where she now lives. She began teaching in Cambridge and returned to Scotland in 2015, when she began working for St. Andrew’s as a temporary Director of Studies for their summer schools. She is now a full-time member of staff and enjoying the behind-the-scenes preparation for summer school teaching and learning.
Summer School Welfare and Student Services Coordinator
Raquel began working with St. Andrew's College in 2016 as an Activity Leader, and most recently worked as the Centre Manager in one of our large Edinburgh campuses. Raquel graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a degree in Spanish and Business Studies in 2017 and has now joined the team, full-time, as the Summer School Welfare and Student Client Services Coordinator. She is excited to be part of the team and hopes that her experience with St. Andrew's College can contribute to the company’s growth and success.
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Ally completed his studies at the University of Glasgow in 2018, graduating in German and Music with an Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in summer 2015 as an Activity Leader in QMU. He was then promoted to Centre Manager, serving two years in our Edinburgh campuses. Joining the team in 2017 on a part-time basis while he finished his studies, Ally went on to be a Centre Coordinator for our English campuses before joining the team full-time as Operations Coordinator for England. He looks forward to preparing for the coming summer and continuing the growth of St. Andrew’s College Language Schools.
Summer School Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Fraser completed his studies at the University of St. Andrews in 2018, graduating in History with a first-class Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew’s College Language Schools in the summer of 2016 as an Activity Leader at our Napier Merchiston centre. He was subsequently promoted to Welfare Coordinator at QMU, and then to Centre Manager at our Colchester campus. Having now joined the team full-time, Fraser heads up Operations in Scotland and is now looking forward to helping the company continue its growth and success.
Cara is one of the newest members of St Andrew’s College Language Schools, having started in June 2018 as part of her Modern Apprenticeship in Digital Applications. She has only just left school making her the youngest member of the team at only 17. She has already taken on the responsibility of running the company social media accounts and is looking forward to her future as part of the team.
Hannah went through her 6 years of secondary education and went onto study Social Science in college. After her first year of college, she decided that classroom education wasn't for her and wanted to move on to something more practical. Here she found herself at St Andrew's College Language Schools as a Modern Apprentice where she is able to gain work experience while earning herself a qualification in an environment where she feels more suited. She is excited for what the future holds with the company.
Austin recently joined St Andrew’s College Language Schools in February 2019 and is doing a Modern Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. He is extremely excited to be doing his Apprenticeship with St Andrew’s College and has already hit the ground running helping the rest of the team with administrative duties and he hopes to grow, develop and to contribute towards the success of the company in any way he can.
Summer School Support Officer
Kieran started as an activity leader at our CGC campus in 2017, he then went on to become excursion manager in 2018. He is now working at St Andrew’s College Language Schools as the summer school support officer assisting with recruitment and social media. Kieran is in his final year of an Honours degree in Sport Development at University of West of Scotland. He is looking forward to being a member of the office team before returning to campus as Centre manager.
