John H Corcoran MBE
April 1938 - May 2018
John was Director of the English Language Summer Courses at St Andrew’s College, Bearsden, Glasgow, between 1988 and 2002. He was also Director of Commercial Services at the College over the same period. He was former Chief Executive Officer with Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce and was later made honorary President. Consequently, he related well to people and recognised the importance that care of visitors means to parents and guardians sending young people to the UK.
Simon is a fully qualified teacher within the Scottish Education System. He has been involved in English Language Summer Schools since 1997 and has been a driving force behind St Andrew’s College Language Schools since its inception in 2002. Without his hard work and dedication, the company would not be where it is today. Simon is an extremely well liked member of the team and is known for building an excellent rapport with visiting students. His forte is ensuring that everyone enjoys the “Scottish Experience” in every respect.
Elena Bueno Galán
Elena has an Honours Degree in English Philology by the University of Jaén. She also has a degree in Tourism & Information by the University of Málaga and she is a qualified DELE examiner. She started her career teaching English in Jaén in 2003. She worked with the Junta de Andalucía as a group leader for Spanish students abroad during the summer periods for 5 years. She moved to Scotland in 2006 and since then she has been teaching Spanish at UWS, Glasgow & Strathclyde Universities. In 2004 Elena started being part of St. Andrews College as a group leader and since then she has been a Spanish teacher, a Centre Manager, the Summer School Coordinator and has now taken on the role of General Manager.
Director of Studies
Lauren has been working in ELT since 2012. She has a degree in Comparative Literature in Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow. She is Cambridge Delta qualified, and is now a Local Delta Tutor. She is originally from Edinburgh, but went to university in Glasgow, where she now lives. She began teaching in Cambridge and returned to Scotland in 2015, when she began working for St. Andrew’s as a temporary Director of Studies for their summer schools. She is now a full-time member of staff and enjoying the behind-the-scenes preparation for summer school teaching and learning.
Assistant Director of Studies
Kishon has been working in education since 2010 and has taught adults, teenagers and young learners in NGO, corporate, language school and community settings throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. He has a degree in English Literature and has worked in several St. Andrew’s College campuses in a variety of academic roles. Having completed an MEd. in Inclusive Education, he is joining the St. Andrew’s office with enthusiasm and the hope of utilising his professional experiences to help the team maintain on-going improvements to the academic programme.
Summer School Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator
Raquel began working with St. Andrew's College in 2016 as an Activity Leader, and most recently worked as the Centre Manager in one of our large Edinburgh campuses. Raquel graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a degree in Spanish and Business Studies in 2017 and joined the team, full-time. She is excited to be part of the team and hopes that her experience with St. Andrew's College can contribute to the company’s growth and success.
Summer School Operations Coordinator: England
Ally completed his studies at the University of Glasgow in 2018, graduating in German and Music with an Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in summer 2015 as an Activity Leader in QMU. He was then promoted to Centre Manager, serving two years in our Edinburgh campuses. Joining the team in 2017 on a part-time basis while he finished his studies, Ally went on to be a Centre Coordinator for our English campuses before joining the team full-time as Operations Coordinator for England. He looks forward to preparing for the coming summer and continuing the growth of St. Andrew’s College Language Schools.
Summer School Operations Coordinator: Scotland
Fraser completed his studies at the University of St. Andrews in 2018, graduating in History with a first-class Honours Degree. He began working with St. Andrew’s College Language Schools in the summer of 2016 as an Activity Leader at our Napier Merchiston centre. He was subsequently promoted to Welfare Coordinator at QMU, and then to Centre Manager at our Colchester campus. Having now joined the team full-time, Fraser heads up Operations in Scotland and is now looking forward to helping the company continue its growth and success.
Student Experience Coordinator
Kieran completed his studies in June 2019, graduating with an Honours degree in Sport Development at University of West of Scotland. Kieran started as an activity leader at our CGC campus in 2017, he then went on to become excursion manager in 2018 and centre manager in 2019. He worked at St Andrew’s College Language Schools part-time as the summer school support officer assisting with recruitment and social media. Kieran is now the Student Experience coordinator and is looking forward to an exciting time of growth and continued success at St. Andrews.
Summer School Operations Coordinator Assistant
Shannon completed her studies at Edinburgh Napier University in 2018, graduating in Sport and Exercise Science with an Honours Degree. She began working with St. Andrew's College Language Schools in Summer 2015 as an Activity Leader at our Ayr centre. She was then promoted to Activity and Excursion Manager at our Glasgow centre in 2016 and went on to be Centre Manager at Glasgow and most recently our Colchester centre in 2019. Having now joined the team full-time as Operations Assisting Coordinator, she is really looking forward to helping continue the growth and success at St. Andrew's.
Caitlin joined St. Andrew’s College Language Schools in August 2019 as a Modern Apprentice, after completing her 6th year of Secondary School and deciding University wasn’t for her just yet. She will be completing a Digital Applications apprenticeship over the next year and looks forward to gaining new administration skills in the process. She will mainly be assisting in Academic Recruitment, as well as helping out with other admin roles. She is very excited about this opportunity, especially being a member of St. Andrew’s.
